Here's one simple sentence you can speak each day-at breakfast, in the car, or during bath time.
A seed a day. That's all it takes.
Palm Sunday
"Today is the day people cheered for Jesus and waved palm branches-He's our King!"
(You can even wave your hands like branches together.)
Monday
"Jesus went to the temple and reminded everyone: God's house is for prayer."
(Invite your child to fold their hands and whisper a prayer.)
Tuesday
"Jesus told stories about loving others and trusting God-He wants us to do the same."
(Ask: "Who can we love like Jesus today?")
Wednesday
"Jesus rested and got ready-because big things were coming."
(Make space for calm: a snuggle, a quiet song, a slow moment.)
Thursday (Holy Thursday)
"Jesus had dinner with His friends and washed their feet-He showed us how to serve."
(Say: "Can we find a kind thing to do for someone today?")
Friday (Good Friday)
"Jesus died on the cross because He loves us so, so much."
(Speak it gently. Hold their hands. Say: "Thank You, Jesus.)
Saturday
"Jesus' friends were sad-but they didn't know a big surprise was coming."
(Whisper together: "Jesus is coming back soon...")
Sunday (Easter Sunday!)
"Jesus is ALIVE! He beat death and He loves being with us!"
(Shout it! Dance it out! Let the joy be loud!)
Almighty and ever living God,
you invite us deeper into your world, your people, your Lent.
May this time be one of outward focus;
seeking you in those we often ignore.
Help us live a Lent focused on freedom, generosity, and encounter.
Give us hearts hungry to serve you
and those who need what we have to give.

Dear God, we ask you to bless these pretzels which we are about to eat. Each time we eat them may we be reminded that this is the season of Lent, a time of prayer. Help us to remember to pray for those who need our prayers each day. Keep your loving arms around us, O God, to protect us.

By now each Sacred Heart School family should have a Catholic Relief Services(CRS) rice bowl kit. The kits include the rice bowl and a Lenten calendar. There is a simple prayer on the side of the rice bowl that can be used as a family meal time prayer. Please let one of your child’s teachers know if you haven’t seen it yet. It is a great resource for Lent! Please consider checking out the family tab on the CRS Rice Bowl website for a variety of resources available. There is a beautiful set of the Stations of the Cross on the site.
